There are only two records of this species from the Pribilof Islands. The first was found on September 19, 1978, and the second on Rush Hill on October 8, 2003. Both sightings pertain to the Asian subspeciesEremophila alpestris flava. This form has a bright yellow face and throat, and rich rufous tones to its upperparts. Based on the general habitat preferences of Horned Larks it is likely that the majority of birds that make it to the Pribilofs go undetected in the island’s rocky and barren interior.
