Reindeer are a domesticated variation of caribou. In Alaska, they are farmed for meat, and reindeer sausage can be found in just about every grocery store in the state.
St. Paul Island has a large herd of reindeer that freely roam the island. They were originally introduced in 1911 from Russian stock and as of 2025 the herd is currently estimated at over 1,000 animals!
