This duck displays a very unusual pattern compared to most with no May records and five out of seven records from the month of June, which is later than when the majority of waterfowl migrate. Most records are during the first week of that month. There is also an April record which falls during the late winter period (though this is undoubtedly an early spring record), a late June record of a pair, which may still be spring migrants, and a mid-July record during the summer, which is likely a failed breeding bird. This species often goes many years between records with the most recent record coming from 2000.
