Charadrius vociferus

The sole Pribilof record of this species, which is rare anywhere in Alaska away from the southern Panhandle was provided by a bird found on June 9, 1977. This vocal and very familiar species should be easy to identify if it ever were to reoccur on the Pribilofs. No other species of plover that is likely on the Pribilofs possesses a double breast band, or bright orange-rust rump. The best areas on the island for this species are likely the sand flats around the Salt Lagoon or the bare areas around town.
