Least Sandpiper

Calidris minutilla

The Least Sandpiper is an uncommon breeder in the marshes and ponds of St. Paul Island. Only small number breed each year, usually about 4 to 5 pairs scattered throughout the island. Pumphouse Lake and Fantasy Wetlands are good places to check. Small, with a thin and slightly downcurved bill, and yellow legs, the Least is our only breeding “Peep.”
