An annual vagrant in the early spring on the Pribilofs, this species is very rare at other times. Most records of this species are during the month of May between the 5th and 25th, making it one of the earliest shorebirds to arrive on a regular basis in the Pribilofs, as well as Alaska. A few late spring (late May to mid-June) arrivals have been recorded, while there are two summer records from late July and early August and a small number of additional fall records in late August/early September and early October, which fits well the pattern of other similar species as to fall timing.
